Introduction to an Adventurous Girl

If I could sum myself up in one word, it would have to be clumsy! I once dislocated my knee while watching a movie and I have sprained my ankle quite a few times from falling down the stairs or just tripping over air. I am a micro-biology major entering into my senior year at OU and currently a teaching assistant for Human Physiology. I aspire to be a physician’s associate one day in urgent care, pediatric orthopedics, and then wound care. I have 3 older siblings (yes, the last time we took a picture together was at my brother's wedding). I hear a lot of people say that they don't get along with their siblings but I spend a lot of time hanging out with my brothers and sister.

When I'm not spending time with my family, I go on food adventures with my friends! We like traveling to different places to try new foods but we are also very broke so we gets weird looks as we split everything we order 5 ways.

I love being outdoors so some of my favorite activities are playing volleyball, swimming, and hiking. I sadly couldn't do any of these activities over winter break because it was so cold outside. I also stress bake in my free time because what is stressed spelled backwards other than desserts? I am definitely a foodie. My favorite dessert is matcha green tea ice cream but my favorite place that sells this ice cream is called Matcha Love in Plano, Dallas so I’ll find myself taking road trips just to go eat.

To work off all of this food that I eat, I run around the park and my neighborhood with my dog Leo. He is a super energetic golden doodle that I love to death!

I also cook so I don’t have to spend too much money on eating out all the time. My favorite type of food is Korean food, it used to be Italian food but I used to work at an Italian restaurant called Pepperoni Grill at Penn Square Mall for almost 5 years, so now I am really tired of eating Italian food all the time. Not only do I like trying different types of food, I also like anything relating to arts and crafts such as crocheting, knitting, folding origami, painting, card making, and more!

  1. Ohhhhhh, matcha green tea ice cream: I know I would like that, Rosa! I am also a huge fan of Indian sweets of all kinds, so of course I like the fact that the god Ganesha actually carries a candy dish in one of his arms! He is a fan of modaks in particular: Significance of Modak and why Lord Ganesha loves it. And your Leo is such a cutie: maybe he will get to make an appearance in a story this semester. There is even a very famous dog-episode in the Mahabharata that you will see later on; the story of Yudhishthira and the dog: Yudhishthira and the Dog ... Yudhishthira is one of the main heroes of the Mahabharata, and I am so curious to see what you will think of the epics this semester!

  2. Rosa, I am also on the career path to becoming a PA, and it is always interesting to see what specialties people are interested! I spend a lot of time volunteering at The Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center, so it has influenced me to possibly work in pediatrics someday! What made you interested in urgent care, pediatric orthopedics and wound care?

  3. Hi Rosa! Looks like we'll get along great! I'm also clumsy and slipped on a piece of lettuce before. I absolutely LOVE food but had to break up with it recently (sobs). Your dog is absolutely adorable. I love to spend time with mine as well in the great outdoors! That is so cool that your a TA. I bet you'll make a great physician some day!

  4. Hi Rosa! Another microbiology major here, wow! I never realized desserts / stressed was a semordnilap either, but what a happy coincidence. It's a little refreshing to know that crafting with your hands (knitting, crochet, etc) hasn't completely disappeared with this generation; I think everybody could benefit from the peace that comes from quietly watching your hands create something. Your page is very cheerful and you seem that way too, I am looking forward to reading your work here!

  5. Good luck on your senior year Rosa, and congratulations on the TA position. Hopefully the students in your class do not try to blame you for their grades, that has to be the only irritating aspect of being a teachers assistant. I do have to ask, what movie was so enthralling that it caused you to dislocate your knee, that is definitely not a story you hear everyday.

  6. Hello Rosa! I am in your Epics of India class. What caught my attention in your introduction was being a foodie, I can completely relate! The Matcha Love ice cream looks delicious!! I run with my dog, Rudy, too! I wonder, what is your favorite food to go out and seek on your food adventures? I think you will be an amazing teacher's assistant. I hope your schedule is not too stressful with classes and your position! I look forward to reading your blog more!

  7. Hi Rosa! Leo is adorable. My favorite part about these introductions post is seeing everyones pets. Stress baking is a thing and something that I also do often. What better way to let off stress than to indulge in sweets. I also am a crafter. I don't get to do it as often as I would like, but it is also another way to let off stress. Nice meeting you!

  8. Hello Rosa! I love the picture of your Goldendoodle Leo. They are such cool animals. I feel like we have a lot in common because I too love sweet and am very close with my family. Also, I am going to nursing school, so we have the medical field in common as well. I wish that I was a better cook because I definitely spend too much time eating out, so it is good that you have started the habit of cooking already. I look forward to reading your posts this semester!

  9. Hello Rosa!

I usually like to look at pictures of people's introductions first before I read, and the ice cream caught my attention! I'm a big foodie too. I love to travel around and try out different places. Whenever I head to Texas again I'll have to stop by Matcha Love! Have you heard of Il Dulce in Norman? It's a gelato place and I definitely recommend trying it out if you haven't yet!

  10. Hey Rosa. I bet being a teaching assistant in human phys takes a lot of your time! It is cool to hear that you wish to go the PA route as your career. I have shadowed some different physicians as well as PA's and I have to say they were some of the nicest and coolest people I have met. I too always wonder why people say they don't get along with their siblings because much like you my two sisters and myself get along great together. Well, good luck on everything this semester!

  11. Hi Rosa! I was a PLA for Human Physiology and am currently a Human Anatomy PLA! I love that you are a pro at the body inside, because I'm sure it helps when you have a clumsy moment and injury yourself, haha!! Like you, I also spend a lot of time with my siblings. I feel like we get closer as we get older and I love it! I can't wait to follow you through this class. You are going to do great things!

  12. Hi Rosa!
First off, I really like the design and layout of your blog and I think your use of personal photos makes your introduction page a lot more relatable and enjoyable to read. Your golden doodle, Leo, looks so cute and playful! I hope you have a great semester and I look forward to revisiting your blog throughout the course!

  13. Hi Rosa! You're not alone on being clumsy! If my friends or family members were to describe me in one word it would be clumsy. I can't tell you how many times my family has heard a big thump coming from the direction of the stairs and then laugh at me because it is almost a daily habit of me falling up or down the stairs. Also, I really like the style and font your blog uses! Good luck this semester!

  14. Hi Rosa! It’s really cool that you’ve chosen the PA route! I think a desire to help people is something we need more of in the world. I also love the outdoors. Hiking and rock climbing have quickly become some of my favorite activities. As a Korean, I am definitely unbiased in saying that Korean food is the best kind of food.

  15. Hello Rosa,
Your life seems so fun and filled with love and food. I also love my siblings and we get along great even thought there is an age gap. I love food also, I have never tried green tea ice cream... looks interesting. Your pupper is adorable, I am sure he is amazing, they are good dogs. I hope your semester goes well!

  17. Hi Rosa! One of my favorite things is trying new food, too. I get so excited when I get to try a new restaurant or experiment with a new recipe. Korean is also one of my favorites! When I lived in San Francisco there was a Korean restaurant around the block from me that had dozens of earthenware jars in the back where they fermented the best kimchi and other condiments. Their bibimbap was to die for! I miss that place talking about it.

  18. Hello Rosa. First off congratulations on your last semester of college. I hope you lose some of your clumsiness for your future work. I also enjoy cooking to save money. I love me some southern food, but Korean food is also spectacular. I have never had green tea ice cream and will try to find some in the future. Best of luck on your last semester of college!

  19. Hey Rosa! I is cool that you are adventurous! I love being outside too, but I hardly have the time to do so anymore. You need to stay safe out hiking if you are as clumsy as you say you are. The green tea ice cream looks delicious. The closest thing to that I would have ate would be the green tea mochi at Tatsumaki in Norman. Your dog is really cute and he looks so happy!

  20. Hey Rosa! Don't even get me started on Korean food, I'm obsessed with it. One of my favorite kinds of food, hands down. There's a great Korean place in Norman too, it's called WingIt and it's on Main Street! I love your dog too, golden doodles are one of my favorite kinds of dogs. And they're so adorable when they are puppies, there is nothing cuter. Good luck on the rest of school!

  24. Hey there, Rosa!
You seem to have a great relationship with your siblings and family! I think that is always a great thing to have. I have three brothers myself, and we also have a great relationship. I think one of the highlights of my life was growing up with siblings. I always had someone to hand out with. I hope you have a great rest of the semester!

  25. Hi Rosa! I really appreciate you taking the time out to share aspects of your life with us! I don't always have the best relationship with my siblings and family but you inspire me to work harder at my relationships! I have 3 other siblings who I don't get to see much because they live far away but I will make more efforts to go visit my family! I hope you have a great semester and I cannot wait to read some of your work!

  26. Hey, Rosa! I love the picture of your dog, Leo, he's so cute! My friends and I are also food adventurers. One of our rules on road trips is that we have to eat places we can't eat when we are at home. Our favorite thing to do is track down the best taco truck in whatever area we are visiting. Good luck with the rest of your semester!

  27. Hello Rosa!

I had no idea you were in this class! How have you liked the readings so far? I love the visual illustrations you've used in your blog to create an inviting blog. From your introduction, you seem incredibly artistic! I am the least bit of that but I appreciate the arts very much. Origami is so interesting! I hope someday I can learn how to craft a beautiful swan. Anyway, I look forward to reading your stories!

  28. Hey rosa i enjoyed reading your introduction post and from the jump i knew it was going to be something fun to read. Its crazy that you hurt yourself in so many ways lol and i respect that you have that type of bond with your siblings because just like you said a lot of people do not get along with there siblings. I wish you the best of luck in the rest of your schooling.
